Anne Arundel Dept. of Recreation and Parks kicks off the Move More Race Series with the Rec Deeds Challenge 5K Run & Family Fun Walk, Sat. April 1, 2017, 7:45-11:00 am. Recreation Deeds for Special Needs is a non-profit organization established to provide camp scholarships, adaptive equipment, training and volunteer support for those with disabilities. The Recreation Deeds Challenge 5K Run and Fun Walk fundraiser is being held at Downs Park, 8311 John Downs Loop, Pasadena, MD 21122 and the race starts at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers are needed on the day of the event to assist with race support, be course monitors, register participants, give out race bags, mark course, and take pictures. Giddy Up for Derby Day
Volunteers Needed for Maryland Therapeutic Riding’s Derby Day Benefit on May 6, 2017, 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm. On Saturday volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of tasks to include event registration, silent and live auction monitors, cashiers, set up and clean up, and more. Fri., May 5 from 12-6 pm, Sat., May 6 from 9 am-11:30 pm, and Sunday, May 7 from 9am-12pm Volunteers are needed for setup and cleanup. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to assist with set up and clean-up and 18 years old to volunteer during the event. Groups are welcome! Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR) in Crownsville is a Premier Accredited Therapeutic Riding Center that offers therapeutic horseback riding lessons and other equine based therapies for children and adults with special needs. Get down to Jug Bay
Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Lothian is a wonderful place to visit or volunteer. And lucky for you, several Volunteer Training Days are coming up. Participants will learn about volunteer, stewardship, and citizen science opportunities at Jug Bay. Training will be followed with a hike on Nature Preserve trails.
