Move More!
Anne Arundel Dept. of Recreation and Parks kicks off the Move More Race Series with the Rec Deeds Challenge 5K Run & Family Fun Walk, Sat. April 1, 2017, 7:45-11:00 am. Recreation Deeds for Special Needs is a non-profit organization established to provide camp scholarships, adaptive equipment, training and volunteer support for those with disabilities. The Recreation Deeds Challenge 5K Run and Fun Walk fundraiser is being held at Downs Park, 8311 John Downs Loop, Pasadena, MD 21122 and the race starts at 9:00 a.m.  Volunteers are needed on the day of the event to assist with race support, be course monitors, register participants, give out race bags, mark course, and take pictures.  Volunteers should arrive at 7:45 a.m. to register and get volunteer assignments. Bargain hunters needed
Are you a bargain hunter who has time to shop for HOPE? Hope For All is looking for one or two people who can use their couponing skills to find great deals on the things needed to supplement our inventory of personal care items: soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. If you’re up for the shopping challenge, contact Leo Zerhusen at the address below.

Hope For All also continues to seek volunteers to help Tues, Weds, Thurs and Saturdays between 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon-ish, assisting with pickups and deliveries of furniture, clothing, or other donations that help homeless families in Anne Arundel Co. Giddy Up for Derby Day
Volunteers Needed for Maryland Therapeutic Riding’s Derby Day Benefit on May 6, 2017, 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm. On Saturday volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of tasks to include event registration, silent and live auction monitors, cashiers, set up and clean up, and more. Fri., May 5 from 12-6 pm, Sat., May 6 from 9 am-11:30 pm, and Sunday, May 7 from 9am-12pm Volunteers are needed for setup and cleanup. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to assist with set up and clean-up and 18 years old to volunteer during the event. Groups are welcome! Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR) in Crownsville is a Premier Accredited Therapeutic Riding Center that offers therapeutic horseback riding lessons and other equine based therapies for children and adults with special needs.  If you are interested in volunteering for this event or for more information, please contact Nichole at Nichole@mtrinc.org or 410-923-6800, or sign up at www.aacvc.org/OpportunityCalendar

Box of Rain’s mission for our kids is to nurture self-esteem and a sense of self-worth through accomplishment; develop life skills that strengthen character and opportunities for social engagement; encourage civic responsibility that leads to positive contributions to our community; and create pathways to independence and career success. The Foundation is currently seeking a Part-time (2-4 hours/week) Volunteer Coordinator who will be responsible for recruiting, organizing, and managing volunteers for Box of Rain’s programs and events, This is an unpaid volunteer position. The Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism, founded in 1993, supports over 1,000 AmeriCorps members each year through its grant-making program. In addition, the office advocates for effective volunteer program management and recognizes volunteer service across the state on behalf of the Governor of Maryland. Get down to Jug Bay
Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Lothian is a wonderful place to visit or volunteer.  And lucky for you, several Volunteer Training Days are coming up. Participants will learn about volunteer, stewardship, and citizen science opportunities at Jug Bay. Training will be followed with a hike on Nature Preserve trails. Volunteers must be age 15 and older, but many opportunities are family friendly. Registration is required. Upcoming trainings are Friday, March 3, 1-3 pm, Sat., March 18 1:30-4pm, Fri.
