Anne Arundel – Annapolis Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) has announced its LATE spring 2018 dates for Basic 20 hour CERT Training. Volunteer to become a trained member of your community in emergency response. The training will be held on Friday, June 1 from 6pm-9pm, Sat., June 2 from 8am-5pm, and Sun., June 3, 2018 from 8am-3pm at the Fire Training Academy in Millersville. A disaster simulation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 8am-1pm at the same location. Everyone completing the course receives a nationally recognized certification and the opportunity to join Anne Arundel-Annapolis CERT as a member. The Hammond-Harwood House will once again host the Secret Garden Tour of Annapolis on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, 2018. They need your help to staff the gardens! The shifts range from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on both days. You can sign up for more than one shift. As a thank you, volunteers receive one free admission to the gardens. The Secret Garden Tour explores different private gardens in downtown Annapolis. During this rare opportunity participants are given a behind the scenes look at some of the most stunning gardens in the area. This year’s Pioneer Camp at the National Electronics Museum will be Space themed! July 18-19 or August 8-9, 2018, 9 am-1 pm. Kids ages 8-11 will spend two full days learning all about space! Campers will learn about satellites, telescopes, stars, space travel, and more! The Campers are going to make their own telescopes and planets as we explore the final frontier. The museum near BWI Airport serves students and the general public by collection, preservation and display of significant artifacts and literature and the commemoration of the creativity and dedication of pioneers and workers in the field of electronics. The main purpose of this position is to act as the Program Coordinator for the agency and assist in the operation of the Community Initiatives & Programs Division. This position coordinates the Holiday Sharing, Back to School, Generous Juror, and Mentoring programs while administering the placement of volunteers in the agency.
