This is the 20th year of the Back to School program in A.A. County. The Dept. of Social Services in partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools matches donors to children from low-income families in local elementary schools to provide the backpacks and school supplies they need to start the school year. Donors are needed (individuals, groups, and businesses) and will receive information on the child/children they are helping with a list of needed supplies for their grade. School supplies are placed inside backpacks and delivered to elementary schools during August, so each child has what they need on the 1st day of school. Contact 410-269-4462 or firstname.lastname@example.org for details about donating supplies, money or otherwise assisting in providing backpacks to school children in need. For a donor application and more information, go to: www.aacounty.org/departments/social-services/index.html.
Volunteers are also needed to deliver backpacks and school supplies. August 20-31st. Contact email@example.com to help with delivery.

Go Green for Blue Crabs
Have fun, be “Bay Responsible” and help the Annapolis Rotary and Annapolis Green make the 73rd Annual Crab Feast a Zero-Waste event again this year. With your help, NOTHING from the 2500-person feast will go to the landfill. EVERYTHING will be recycled or composted. Friday, August 3rd starting at 4pm, enthusiastic folks are needed to staff the waste stations and help folks put their left-overs and everything else in the right receptacle. They also need people to hang signs and banners during setup, and help with the very fast and efficient cleanup at the end.Volunteers are needed at the Annapolis Green table during the event too – to explain the Bay Responsible program and take sales orders for the compost that will result from the feast. To volunteer, email email@example.com
P.S. – When you do find out about a great volunteer opportunity from us, please tell our non-profit partner that we sent you. Better yet, drop a quick note to firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us how it went.
