Volunteers Needed For Tax Preparation!
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest volunteer-run tax preparation service, is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Tax-Aide, celebrating its 50th year, will be offering free in-person tax preparation and assistance to anyone, especially those who are older or who can’t afford tax preparation, at several sites in Anne Arundel County from Jan – Apr. 2019.
The program is seeking volunteer tax preparers to give advice and prepare tax returns on computers using a program provided by the IRS at each of the sites. In addition, appointment takers and client facilitators are also needed to schedule client appointments and assist clients at these sites. Every level of experience is welcome!
Orientation on tax changes for this year and training for volunteer preparers and client facilitators will be held on several dates from January 9-30, 2019. AARP membership is not required!

Reach Out to Help Someone
The Center of Help’s newest program, the Maria de la Paz Youth Outreach Center seeks to provide activities that will help youth to feel safe, emotionally stable, and engaged. The program provides a safe community for youth to address everyday stressors, possible emotional or behavioral concerns, and other challenges that come with adolescence while strengthening their creative expression, academic skills, exploring STEM and vocational topics, and building character.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work directly with youth ages 12 to 17 from adverse backgrounds as a tutor, mentor, and/or assistant teacher, and ideally volunteer on a regular schedule, at least 30 min per week between the hours of 3:15 and 6:45 pm Monday through Friday.
A background check, application, and 45 minute informational interview/training session with the program director are required. Minors may volunteer as peer mentors. Contact Kirsten Clark, program director, at kclark@centerofhelp.org or 443-254-7313.

Make A Special Delivery
HOPE FOR ALL is in need of strong individuals who can assist with pickup and deliveries on Tues. Wed. and Thur. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30. There may be some Monday and Friday opportunities as well. HOPE can also use individuals or groups on the first and second Saturdays of the month. Time frame is the same 8:30 to 12:30. There is a very strong need in our county for human services. HOPE is the only agency that does the work it does.
HOPE For All is a Christian ministry whose mission is to provide basic human necessities (i.e. furniture, housewares, clothing and personal items) to families and individuals without sufficient economic resources. They collect donations locally and give them back out right here in Anne Arundel County.
Please call 410-766-0372 to schedule a time to volunteer.

Drivers Needed

The Anne Arundel County Food Bank in Crownsville is in need of volunteer drivers to pick up and/or deliver donations in a box truck. There are so many donations this time of year but they will miss out if they don’t have a way to pick them up. Drivers must be able to pass a DOT physical, and lift 50+ pounds. Hours are Monday through Friday (1 to 3 days per week), usually 9am until noon. Must have good driving record and experience driving and operating a box truck with lift gate.
Call or email Marta –  marta@aafoodbank.org or (410) 923-4255.
Volunteer Groups Needed

The Anne Arundel County Food Bank loves volunteer groups, without whom, they would not be able to sort the copious amounts of food that are donated each year, and supply the pantries that served over 59,000 households in Anne Arundel County last fiscal year.
Now that it is the holiday season, and thanks to several large food drives, they have a great amount of food that needs sorted.
They are in need of groups to volunteer in December and January – if you are looking for a group project, please consider coming to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank to help sort the food that feeds so many people in need – in our own neighborhoods and communities.
If you have any questions or want to schedule your group, please email marta@aafoodbank.org, or call 410-923-4255.
