Help Students

Work one-on-one with students to help guide them to academic success. Volunteers are needed for Student Progress Conversations with 6th – 8th grade students in the On Track 4 Success early intervention, dropout prevention program, now operating in four area schools. A diverse group of volunteers and Spanish speakers are needed.

Each student in the program will be paired with a volunteer to have a reflective conversation about their academic performance. You’ll talk with students about their successes and challenges, celebrate their accomplishments and encourage them to stay focused and keep up with their studies. Each volunteer will meet with several students, and a ½ hour training session will be held at the beginning of your selected session.

Be a Docent

The Chesapeake Children’s Museum in Annapolis is seeking volunteer docents to greet visitors and support their exploration of the hands-on exhibits. Exhibit areas include live animals, some of which are touchable. The art area includes “help yourself” materials. Other areas have multiple pieces that can be used for creative play – and need regular tidying as visitors finish using them.

There are outdoor areas that are used by visitors on their own or as part of a program. Docents can facilitate nature walks, outdoor games, gardening, and other activities, especially when groups come to visit.

Choose a regularly occurring shift, such as alternate Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm, or Tuesdays 10 am to 12 noon, that fits your schedule.
